What had I seen?
To keep this discussion simple, I suspect it might have been:
1) A ghost
2) A Thought-Form
Could it have been a human ghost? Perhaps.
At that time, I felt it was strange for a ghost to be eating ice-cream as it has been said that ghosts do not need to eat the way humans do. I also felt it was strange that ghosts need to wear spectacles and wear clothes.
Was it a Thought-Form? Perhaps.
Because, on the night before that encounter (or perhaps a few nights before), my father had taken me out for a dinner with a student (or ex-student) of his. That ghostly apparition I saw remarkably resembles the physical features of this ex-student (for example, the face of the ghostly apparition does look like the face of my father's student)
I also thought at that time that maybe my father's student had suddenly passed away and had come to visit me. But I found this idea to be strange too as this person was in no way (as far as I know) related to me (I only met him once and he is certainly not a friend. At most he is an acquaintance. From what I know, he is also not a relative of mine).
I am not going to discuss other theories here. One example is the theory that this student of his knew how to astrally project himself and was thus able to visit me in some kind of astral form. (I have since discovered that this might be possible)

My 2nd Ghostly Encounter
This occurred sometime during my secondary school days. I believe I was in secondary 2 then (age of 14). I was still living in my grandparents' old house.
My own room (on the 2nd floor) was just next to the common toilet and my uncle's (my Uncle David; he has since passed away) room.
My Uncle David had gone for a holiday (I think he might have gone to America at that time) and I guess I felt it was more comfortable to sleep in his room instead of my own. I guess I felt it was good for a change.
One night, when I was sleeping in my uncle's room, for no conceivable reason, I suddenly woke up. If I am not wrong, it was about 2-3am (probably 3am I think).
On waking up from sleep, I looked at the open door (the door wasn't closed) of my Uncle's room. The common toilet was just outside, directly facing my uncle's room. There was a vague human figure being formed in the moonlight (it was as if the figure was coalescing into a visually coherent whole by the light of the moon). I looked on in amazement as the figure was being formed until it became clearly visible.
The human-looking figure could be described thus:
1) He was wearing a T-shirt (without pockets) and shorts
2) He was wearing spectacles
3) He appeared to be eating an ice cream
4) He was quite tall (his head was nearly touching the top of the doorway. I cannot give an estimation of his height as I no longer live in that house and so I am unable to give an approximate measurement)
The transparent figure was looking at me. I believe he must have realized that I could see him, because after a moment or two, he simply turned and walked away.
Similar to my first ghostly encounter, I wasn't scared at all. I was too surprised and amazed to feel fear.
What I did next was to rush out of my Uncle's room and see if I could find the apparition. I also looked at the staircase leading to the first floor (my Uncle's room was also just next to the staircase). I didn't see any trace of the apparition.
I then went back to sleep.

Some theories about the black cat apparition
This is by no means a comprehensive list of what the black cat apparition might be:
1) It was a Thought-Form created by my Mind. Somehow I had accidentally discovered for myself the Tibetian secret of creating a Thought-Form
2) It was an animal(cat) ghost or spirit
3) It was an entity from another dimension
4) It was some other spirit or entity disguised as a cat spirit (maybe because it wanted to tease me for fun)
5) It was a hallucination
Theory 1) is possible because not too long ago (perhaps some days ago before the appearance of the apparition) I remember myself drawing a cat that looked something like what I saw. I cannot recall whether at that time (prior to seeing the black cat apparition) I had read any children's book on ghosts and other scary paranormal phenomena.
I doubt very much that Theory 5) is true. I don't know how the experience of having a hallucination is actually like. Without having constant hallucinations, how am I to know what the experience is actually like?
Without a doubt, I had experienced something that night I had never before experienced and it was something extraordinary.

My earliest paranormal experience
My earliest paranomral experience occurred when I was a very young boy, then still living at my grandparents' old home in Bedok, Singapore (a small island-nation state south of West Malaysia). I don't remember my exact age at that time, but I estimate myself to be around 6-8 years old then. My grandparents used to live in semi-detached house in Jalan Limau Bali. To protect the privacy of the new owners of the house (and also to protect the value of their property *smile*), I will not disclose the exact house number.
I remember the strange experience so well even now, as if it had occurred only yesterday. In those days when I was a young boy at around that age, I used to sleep together with both my parents in the same room. That strange night, I remember I suddenly woke up in the middle of the night, for no reason at all and feeling very wide awake. I looked out of the door (which wasn't closed) of my room. Then all of a sudden, I encountered something unexpected.
There, just outside the door of my room, appeared what I can only describe as a floating black cat, staring at me, and making meowing sounds.
Was I scared? (a question I believe you readers would be interested to ask)
Frankly, I was too surprised to be able to react in any way, not even to feel fear.
I can only describe the black cat as best as I can with the following description:
1) It looked very much like some kind of cartoon cat, not a real-life 3-dimensional cat you see in everyday life
2) The darkness of the black cat looked unnatural and imprenetrable. It didn't look like it had any fur. It looked more like some kind of 2-dimensional cartoon cat drawn and coloured in pitch black
3) It had no legs of any sort (or at least, I am sure I didn't see any)
4) It had pointed ears
5) It had eyes (right now, after so many years, I don't seem to be able to recall exactly the image of those eyes in my mind)
What the black cat did was to make meowing sounds, and while floating in the air, it rotated upside-down (yes, upside-down). At this point in time, I was so amazed at the sight that I instinctly woke my parents up, while keeping my eyes fixed on the cat. But as soon as I had attempted to wake my parents up, the black cat suddenly disappeared right before my very eyes!
When my parents were fully awake, I told them what I saw. I simply told them I saw a cat. My parents thought that I was merely dreaming. Even then, I knew that they wouldn't believe me. How could I expect them to believe me when the evidence disappeared right before my very eyes?
Just so as to placate and reassure me that there was no cat, my mum asked my dad to go outside the room (which is on the 2nd floor of the semi-detached house) to look for the cat. My dad just took a 'going-through-the-motions' kind of walk and walked into my (at that time, it was vacated) uncle's room (more specifically, my mum's younger brother's room) and shouted loudly that there was no cat.
I will stop here for now. I hope you have been intrigued somewhat.
In my next entry, I will speculate on just what that black cat apparition was.
Until then,
may you have pleasant dreams (whether awake or asleep) always.......and take care =)
