My earliest paranomral experience occurred when I was a very young boy, then still living at my grandparents' old home in Bedok, Singapore (a small island-nation state south of West Malaysia). I don't remember my exact age at that time, but I estimate myself to be around 6-8 years old then. My grandparents used to live in semi-detached house in Jalan Limau Bali. To protect the privacy of the new owners of the house (and also to protect the value of their property *smile*), I will not disclose the exact house number.
I remember the strange experience so well even now, as if it had occurred only yesterday. In those days when I was a young boy at around that age, I used to sleep together with both my parents in the same room. That strange night, I remember I suddenly woke up in the middle of the night, for no reason at all and feeling very wide awake. I looked out of the door (which wasn't closed) of my room. Then all of a sudden, I encountered something unexpected.
There, just outside the door of my room, appeared what I can only describe as a floating black cat, staring at me, and making meowing sounds.
Was I scared? (a question I believe you readers would be interested to ask)
Frankly, I was too surprised to be able to react in any way, not even to feel fear.
I can only describe the black cat as best as I can with the following description:
1) It looked very much like some kind of cartoon cat, not a real-life 3-dimensional cat you see in everyday life
2) The darkness of the black cat looked unnatural and imprenetrable. It didn't look like it had any fur. It looked more like some kind of 2-dimensional cartoon cat drawn and coloured in pitch black
3) It had no legs of any sort (or at least, I am sure I didn't see any)
4) It had pointed ears
5) It had eyes (right now, after so many years, I don't seem to be able to recall exactly the image of those eyes in my mind)
What the black cat did was to make meowing sounds, and while floating in the air, it rotated upside-down (yes, upside-down). At this point in time, I was so amazed at the sight that I instinctly woke my parents up, while keeping my eyes fixed on the cat. But as soon as I had attempted to wake my parents up, the black cat suddenly disappeared right before my very eyes!
When my parents were fully awake, I told them what I saw. I simply told them I saw a cat. My parents thought that I was merely dreaming. Even then, I knew that they wouldn't believe me. How could I expect them to believe me when the evidence disappeared right before my very eyes?
Just so as to placate and reassure me that there was no cat, my mum asked my dad to go outside the room (which is on the 2nd floor of the semi-detached house) to look for the cat. My dad just took a 'going-through-the-motions' kind of walk and walked into my (at that time, it was vacated) uncle's room (more specifically, my mum's younger brother's room) and shouted loudly that there was no cat.
I will stop here for now. I hope you have been intrigued somewhat.
In my next entry, I will speculate on just what that black cat apparition was.
Until then,
may you have pleasant dreams (whether awake or asleep) always.......and take care =)
